Alice Lila Swoboda, 99, Frankfort, died September 18, 2016 at the Community Healthcare Hospital in Onaga, KS. Visitation was Tuesday, September 20, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 21 at Padden Funeral Chapel. Rev. Richard Mullen officiated. The musicians were Jane Sedlacek and Sheriena McEvers. Music included “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden”. The pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were David Evans, David Kenworthy, Terry Kurtz, Sterling Hunter, Lester Little, Kenneth Whearty, Paul Todd, David Todd, Brian Nichols and Dan Heinen. Burial was in the Vermillion Cemetery. Alice was born May 5, 1917 at Frankfort, the oldest daughter of Wesley David and Edna Cleota (Martin) Kurtz. Alice and her husband Rudy lived at Irving, KS, before relocating to Frankfort in 1959. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in his auto and farm machinery repair shop. Never having children, Alice loved babysitting and had a very loving and generous heart by helping family, friends, and neighbors with canning and gardening. She loved flowers and enjoyed sharing them along with her crafts of quilting, embroidering and crocheting. Alice had a delightful sense of humor. Before moving to the Frankfort Community Care Home in 2007, she lived almost three years in Frontenac, KS, with nieces, Marilyn and Rob Graham and Margaret Kurtz, as caregivers. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Rudy; brothers, Frederick in WWII, John, Paul Jr., Joe, Raymond and David; and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include her sister, Nellie Hunter, Auburn, KS; sisters-in-law, JoeAnn Kurtz and Irene Kurtz; as well and many nieces, nephews and friends and neighbors. Memorial contributions may be made to your church or to the Frankfort Food Pantry. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Chapel, Frankfort.
