Evelyn A. McKee, 83, formerly of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at the Sabetha Manor, Sabetha, KS. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Pastor Dennis McKee officiated. Valerie Oltman played the organ while soloist Wayne Kruse “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Give Thanks For Life”. The pallbearers were Aaron Perry, Mike Gee, Larry Miller, Wayne Musil, Leland Shepherd and Donnie Stone. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Evelyn was born May 11, 1926 at Oak, NE, the daughter of James M. and Jessie F. (Heiserman) Wilkins. In 1944 she graduated from Nelson High School at Nelson, NE. Then she worked for the Naval Ammunition Depot at Hastings, NE before attending normal college and earning a teaching certificate. On October 1, 1949 she married Russell "Bud" McKee. Evelyn worked for U.S.D. #364 in Marysville serving lunches for 20 years. Together with her husband they operated, KeeKrafts, a craft store operated out of their home. Evelyn enjoyed baking pies and cinammon rolls, sewing, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell "Bud" McKee on September 17, 2006; and one brother, Harold Wilkins. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Patterson of Topeka, KS; two sons, Dennis McKee of Bloomington, MN, and Kevin McKee of Hiawatha, KS; one sister, Sylvia Rennick of Hastings, NE. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
