Steven A. Busch, 65, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, after a courageous battle against cancer, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 11 at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “On Eagles Wings” and “Because The Lord Is My Shepherd”. Rev. Dale Lewis sang “In Our Hearts”. The congregation sang “I Know Whom I Have Relieved”. The pallbearers were Troy Alderfer, J. Flowers, Anthony Luckeroth, Darren Nemechek, Bill Wanamaker, and Joe Werner. The honorary pallbearers were Cavin Alderfer, Dakota Busch, Gary Haas, Bill Jenkins, Kaide Jones, Kenny Jones, Shane Roever, and Clark Werner. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Steven was born October 29, 1943 in Jackson County, Missouri to Harvey L. and Norma M. (Maendele) Busch. From November 28, 1960 to November 27, 1964 he was on active duty in the United States Marine Corp. After leaving the USMC, he worked at Georgia Pacific until joining Kansas Power & Light on June 14, 1971. While working with KPL, he took courses to become a journey-lineman. In June 2006 he retired as a line foreman from Westar after a 35 year career. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; one son, Monte Busch of Brookville, IN; two daughters, Jennifer Alderfer and Troy of Brighton, CO, and Anne Werner and Joe of Axtell, KS; ten grandchildren, Dakota Busch of West Harrison, IN, Sydney, Cavin, & Lily Alderfer of Brighton, CO, Jamie Warders of Manhattan, KS, Katie Conrad of De Soto, MO, and Casey, Paige, Alexis & Clark Werner of Axtell, KS; ten siblings, Leo Busch of Livingston, MT, Ron Busch and wife Francine of Yorba Linda, CA, Gary Busch and wife Wanita of Marysville, Linda Nemechek and husband Bryon of Waterville, KS, Kathy Busch of Centralia, KS, Stanley Busch of Valley Falls, ND, Pam Stohs and husband Leonhard of Marysville, Ricky Busch of Frankfort, KS, Terri Luckeroth and husband Dean of Centralia, KS, and Brenda Busch of Topeka, KS. Deposits in Heaven are daughter, Rachelle Conrad; his parents; niece, Amber Luckeroth; and nephews, Lucas Stohs and Josiah Luckeroth. Steve was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners of North America, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, American Legion Post 163, VFW, and the United Methodist Church of Oketo. He had an unfailing faith in the Lord that was inspiring and contagious. He was a devoted fan of the University of Kansas Jayhawks, yet maintained a passion for all sports. He will be greatly missed, but his loved ones take comfort in knowing that he is enjoying eternity in the presence of the Lord.
