Arthur "Quentin" Raymond, 70, of Vermillion, KS, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia. A rosary service was held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 15 at the church. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 16, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Jeannie Gerstner played the organ while the church choir sang “On Eagles Wings”, “I Heard the Voice of Jesus”, “You Are Mine” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Jason Robinson, Shane Robinson, Travis Koch, Dusty Koch, Adam Koch and Shawn Pike. The honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Koch, David Smith, Alex Koch and Lucas Smith. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. Quentin was born September 22, 1938 at Frankfort, KS, the son of Arthur Pete and Teresa E. (Henley) Raymond. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1955. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in September 1955 and served until October 1976. After his military career he worked in the ship yards in San Diego. In 1977 he moved back to Kansas and began working at Jeffrey Energy Center as a Control Operator until his retirement in 2001. On October 17, 1964, he married Betty Koch at Annunciation Catholic Church. Quentin enjoyed going to truck pulls throughout the Midwest, loved dogs and football. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sisters, Donna M. Wright and husband Jerry of Manhattan, KS, and Pat Robinson and husband Jerry of Lawrence, KS; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
