John C. Schmidt

John C. Schmidt, 74, Marysville, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at his home. Respecting John’s wishes, private family services will be held. John was born July 1, 1942 in Marysville, the son of Sylvester C. and Regina (Estep) Schmidt. He graduated from Marysville High School, attended the University of Kansas and graduated from the College of Emporia. On June 8, 1963, John was united in marriage to Pamela Nispel. They were blessed with three daughters Jill, Sarah and Laura. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. From 1967-1973, he served in the Army Reserve. Among sporting friends John was known as a fluid basketball shooter who played in games well into his 60's. John worked at the Exchange Bank of Schmidt and Koester from 1964-1987 and for Landoll’s from 1987-2013. Survivors include his wife, Pamela; three daughters, Jill, Marysville, Sarah, Dubai and Laura (Ben Gelsomino), Chicago. Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Jane (Sugar) Chalus. In honor of John’s memory, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cancer Research and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
