Buddy Lee Goodwin, 87, of Axtell, KS, died October 21, 2016, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca. Visitation was Monday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield, KS. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Albert Hauser officiated. Sherryl Burger and Kelsey Goodwin officiated. Music included “You Are Mine”, “Go In Peace”, “How Great Thou Art”, “On Eagles Wings”, and “Because the Lord Is My Shepherd”. The pallbearers were Zach Goodwin, David Riepenkroger, Bobby Goodwin, Preston Gronemeyer, Francis Goodwin, and Noah Goodwin. Buddy was born June 13, 1929 at Summerfield. On June 23, 1949 he married Rita E. Ronnebaum at Holy Family Catholic Church. They were married for 66 years and had three children. He worked for Rural Electric Coop for forty-seven years and was promorted to line foreman. He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, bowling, swimming, boating, and liked to hunt and fish when younger. Survivors include his children, Charles Goodwin, Summerfield, Mary Riepenkroger, Marysville, and Robert Goodwin, Beattie; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vester; and wife, Rita. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later by the family.
