Vester C. Leinweber, Jr., 80, Frankfort, died Saturday, October 22, 2016 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, NE. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Frankfort Presbyterian Church. Visitation and a lunch will be after the service at the church. Vester was born on July 28, 1936 at Frankfort to Vester C. and Edith (Thomas) Leinweber, Sr. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1954. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 – 1961 and was stationed at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, DE, as a jet mechanic. After being discharged, he went to California and worked for Exxon-Mobil refinery and retired in 1993. Vester also worked at a Jewish mortuary in California. After retiring, he returned to Frankfort and worked part-time for the Beattie Gas Station. Vester loved cooking, gardening and sharing the food with friends and family. Survivors include his sister, Betty Rassette, Salina; niece, Diane (Randy) Shandy, Salina; nephew, Brian (Sue) Rassette, Leawood; 3 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew; and several cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Elliott Leinweber. A memorial fund is established to the Frankfort Nutrition Center. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
