Brian S. Stohs, 41, of Ellis, KS, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Visitation was Wednesday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 10 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1710 Jenkins Street, in Marysville. Rev. Jack Kirk officiated. The musicians were Carol Wright and Paula Landoll-Smith. Music included “Old Rugged Cross”, “On Eagles Wings”, and “Amazing Grace”. The pallbearers were Dustin Germer, Shelby Temps, Weylin Dittmar, Bud Cherney, James Baker, Jeremy Lane, Shawn Yaussi, and Travis Scheele. The honorary pallbearers were the Marysville High School Class of 1993, family, friends, and co-workers. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Brian was born January 24, 1975, at Marysville, son of Herbert and Lora (Owens) Stohs, Jr. In 1993, he graduated from Marysville High School. Brian earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Emporia State University in 1998. During college, he began working for Chartwell’s and just completed his 20th year of employment with them. Brian did take a year off from college to work for Temps Disposal to pay for his education. Brian was the Director of Retail Sales at the Memorial Union at Fort Hay University in Hays. He was a very dedicated, conscientious employee, was loved and respected by his employers and co-workers. Hunting, fishing, gardening, and landscaping his yard, were some of Brian's favorite past times. He also enjoyed golfing, disc golf, and watching his sons play sports. Brian was a die-hard KU basketball fan as well as the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. Brian married and was blessed with two sons. He later divorced. Survivors include his two sons, Bradon and Austin Stohs, Damar, KS; mother, Lora Stohs, Marysville; brother, Greg (Sonya) Stohs, Marysville; and a niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Herb. A memorial fund is established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, 1006 Broadway, Marysville, KS 66508.
