Earl E. Guin, 76, of Barnes, KS, died Monday, November 15, 2016 at Lincoln, NE. A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 20, at Maplewood Cemetery, northwest of Barnes. Rev. Jake Bollhoefner and Rev. Jim Beukelman officiated. The pallbearers were Skylar Critchfield, Ryland Critchfield, Hayden Bartz, Jared Bartz, Josh Smith, Dustin Patton, Shane Irvin, and Evan Williams. Earl was born on February 16, 1940 to Alfred B. and Faye (Hicklin) Guin at Redlands, CA. He worked in the grocery business and eventually ventured on his own. He briefly owned a Shell fuel station in California and a successful upholstery business that he started in Hesperia, CA, in 1973. From 1992 to 1994, he took his many years of knowledge and expertise to the Calipatria State Prison where he taught. After moving to Barnes, he re-opened his upholstery business until retiring. He loved the Lord with all his heart and had an unwavering faith. Earl often shared his faith with others around town and prayed for many of those same people daily. Survivors inlcude his wife of 53 years, Betty, Barnes; three daughters, Gini (Mark) Critchfield, Waterville, Edie (Don) Bartz, Hesperia, CA, and Erin (Chris) Williams, Paola, KS; sister, Roberta Dildine, Fullerton, CA; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Donna Wietzel. Kinsley Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
