Merlin Dale Wright, 89, Home, died Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka, KS. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, December 7 at the Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 8, at the United Methodist Church, Beattie, KS. Rev. Jose Eston Cruz will officiate. Jane Sedlacek is the organist. Pallbearers are Shannon Wright, Dale Wright II, Justin Wright, Joel Wright, Jordan Wright and Devin Jepsen. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Wright, peyton Wright, Luke Overkamp, Lynn Millenbruch and Hank Brockmann Burial will be in the Home City Cemetery. Merlin was born on November 4, 1927 at Beattie to Glen and Leona (Seat) Wright. He graduated from high school and ran Wright Service Station, for seventeen years, and later Betty’s Food and Fuel. He worked thirty years for Lewis Seed and Feed. He married Betty Kupfersmith and was blessed with three children, Dale, Larry and Joyce. Merlin was known for being a gentleman, having a big smile for everyone, and a hard worker, who enjoyed what he did. He was the water supervisor for Home, delivered newspapers and worked on Home City improvements. Merlin also served as a 4-H leader. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Dale Lee Wright; brother, Robert Wright; and sister, Glenis Bergmann. Survivors include his wife, Betty; son, Larry G. (Gloria) Wright, Modoc, KS; daughter, Joyce G. Wright, Fayetteville, AR; and brother, Donald Wright, Brownsville, NE. Memorial fund is established and will be designated later.
