Wayne J. Hildebrandt

Wayne John Hildebrandt, 87, of Marysville, KS, died Friday, December 30, 2016, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation will be Friday, January 6, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Marysville. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery. Wayne was born on January 25, 1929, in rural Marysville to Ben and Sophie (Nieman) Hildebrandt. He attended the Deer Creek School through the 8th grade and served two years in the US Army from 1955 to 1957. Wayne was a farmer and a rancher his entire life, working with his brother Clarence, until he died in 2004. Wayne took much pride in his work, tending to the livestock and stewardship of the land. He and Clarence received the 1988 Soil Conservation Bankers Award. Wayne was a member of the Farmers Union and the Evangelical United Church of Christ. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Frances Schaefer; brothers, Clarence and Adolph; and nephew, John Schaefer. Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Claeys, Frankfort; and nieces and nephews, Richard Schaefer, Sioux City, IA, Kenny Schaefer, Springfield, NE, Katherine Hoagland, Juanita, NE, Ben Hildebrandt, Susie Hildebrandt, both of Des Moines, IA, Ann Claeys, Marysville and Scotti (Claeys) Staats, Gardner. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadowlark Hospice or the Marshall County Conservation District. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
