Mary E Dettke

Surrounded by her loving family, Mary E. Dettke, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, KS.Visitation is Friday, January 6, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., at the Hanover Mortuary in Hanover.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 7, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville.Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery.  After the graveside service a luncheon will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Marysville.Mary (Bricker) Dettke  was born on March 21, 1940 in Omaha, NE, to Gary and Marjorie (Strand) Bricker.  Mary, whose father was a career Army man, grew up in many places throughout the world.She earned a Bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and studied nursing at KU Medical in Kansas City.  She was a registered nurse for many years at Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville and the Hanover Hospital.On January 28, 1962, she married her husband, David Dettke.  She put down roots on the family farm near Marysville.  Her pride and joy was her growing family.  She was also passionate about nursing, sports, and her faith.  Mary and Dave enjoyed 54 years and 11 months of marriage until her passing.Other survivors include her seven children, Don (Andrea) Dettke, Cindy (Byron) Thoreson, Marcia Chaudhry, Mike (Tori) Dettke, Chris (Jason Haley) Dettke, Brian (Cheri) Dettke, and Andy Dettke; a sister, Ann Sutherland; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.A memorial fund is established to the American Diabetes Association, and contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
