Lorna L. Friedrichs, 85, Bremen, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation is Friday, January 13, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen. Rev. Aaron T. Fenker, Sr., will officiate. Kathy Pralle will play the organ while the congregation sings “I Am a Stranger Here”, “I Know My Redeemer Lives”, and “Abide with Me”. The church choir will sing “Come Unto Me”. The pallbearers will be Gary Mason, Allan Kruse, Richard Kruse, Tom Orazem, Maurice Friedrichs, and Clair Friedrichs. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Lorna was born October 24, 1931, near Bremen, to Clara and Martin Blanke. She attended school and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. In 1949, she graduated from Hanover High School. On August 30, 1953, she married Raymond Friedrichs. They were blessed with four children, Virginia, Beverly, Robin, and Connie. Lorna spent her life as a homemaker and helped on the family farm. She loved gardening, working with flowers, quilting, and playing cards with friends. She was a volunteer assembling Braille books for missions, served at RSVP in Marysville, was a member of LWML and the Ladies Society of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir throughout her adult life. She quilted for Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Hanover Hospital. Ray and Lorna enjoyed square dancing in the Cross Trailers Club for many years. They also enjoyed countless bus tours. Lorna was a kind and caring person who always thought of others. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Leonard Friedrichs, Howard Moehlenbrink, Jerry Mason, and Harold Kruse; and sisters-in-law, Esther Blanke and Verneda Mason. Survivors include her husband of 63 years; children, Virginia Ratliff (Rick Traylor), Beatrice, Beverly (Greg) Jamison, Raytown, MO, Robin (Paula) Friedrichs, Mt. Hope, KS, and Connie (Todd) Straight, Fort Worth, TX; brother, Norwood Blanke; sister, Verla Kruse; sisters-in-law, Elda Friedrichs, Darlene Moehlenbrink, Janice (Lennis) Holle, and Donna (Tim) Kelley; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Braille Workers or Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Marysville. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
