Charissa L. Johnson Reynolds, 62, of Oketo, KS, died January 28, 2017 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation wasThursday, February 2, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, at the Vermillion Methodist Church in Vermillion, KS. Rev. Virgil Warren officiated. Jane Sedlacek was the organist and the hymns were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus,” “Amazing Grace” and “Railway to Heaven.” Burial was in the Vermillion Cemetery. Charissa was born August 20, 1954, at Seneca, KS, daughter of Ralph R. and Marjorie J. (Miller) Johnson. She graduated from Frankfort High School. On June 25, 1991, she married Daniel G. Reynolds at Bentonville, Arkansas. They made their home near Oketo. Charissa worked and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Kansas University. She worked in Graphic Art Design restoring buildings and religious artifacts. Charissa helped with the restoration at St. Mary’s Church in St. Benedict, KS, restoring statues at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville, as well as many other churches. She enjoyed helping the Vermillion community whether it was helping at the library or working with the Vermillion Cemetery where she helped with the directory and made sure veterans had a flag on Memorial Day. Charissa loved photography, genealogy, gardening, wild flowers, Kansas Basketball, Kansas City Royals, and her dog, Louie. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Tamara Johnson. Survivors include her husband, Daniel G. Reynolds; two brothers, John (Linda) Johnson and Gary (Vonda) Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A memorial fund has been established to Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
