Edward J. Koehler, 83, died August 18, 2009 at Lincoln, Nebraska. The funeral service was held at 10:00 am Saturday, August 22, at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover, Kansas. Father David Metz officiated. Janet Fritschi was organist. The church choir sang "Come To Me," "Keep in Mind," "Unless A Grain of Wheat" and How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place." Burial will was in St. John's Cemetery. Pallbearers were his six grandsons, Chad, Darren, and Ryan Bruna and Joseph, Ronald and Michael Schuessler. Gift bearers were Shelby, Tasha, Kara, Hunter, Zachary and Madeline Bruna and Aiden Schuessler. Military honors were by the American Legion of Hanover. Edward was born November 8, 1925 at Hanover to Joseph and Josephine (Goeckel) Koehler. He was a cattleman and a farmer. He served time in the Army in Korea fron 1950-1952. Edward was a member on the Hanover Legion and St. John's Catholic Church. On October 24, 1950, in Hanover, he was united in marriage to Shirley Sedlacek. She survives. He is also survived by daughters, Kathy Bruna and husband Vince of Hollenberg, Linda Schuessler and husband Don of Hanover; a sister Loretta Schroeder of Platte City, Missouri; and 6 grandchildren and 7 great grand children.
