Edward Prebyl, 87, Oketo, died Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Wednesday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 20, at Kinsley Mortuary. Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Deb Landoll was the organist. Music included "One Day at a Time” and “In the Garden”. The pallbearers were John Prebyl, Jerrod Prebyl, Gary Prebyl, Ron Ferichs, Justin Sherrill, Alan Prebyl, and Ed Zarybnicky. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Ed was born December 13, 1929 at Blue Springs, NE, to James and Anna (Buresh) Prebyl. He attended Oketo schools and graduated from Barneston High School in 1948. Ed served in the Army in Korea, during the Korean Conflict, with the 40th division artillery. In May of 1958, he was united in marriage to Norma Jean Hofeling. He farmed in the Oketo area all his life on the Prebyl family farm, which has been in the family for over 100 years. He worked for Marysville Livestock for many years and was a member of the Marysville American Legion for 62 years. Ed enjoyed farming, gardening and everyday life. Survivors include his son, Dale (Susan) Prebyl, Oketo; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. A memorial fund is established to the Oketo Fire Department. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
