Steven R. Harries, 64, of Marysville, KS, died April 30, 2017 at Bryan West in Lincoln, NE. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. Rev. Philip Miller officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while the congregation sang “The Lord’s My Shepherd, I’ll Not Want”, “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”, and “Amazing Grace”. The pallbearers were Paul Forst, Allen Harries, David Tiedje, Matt Schmitz, Ryan Wieters, and Jesse Edwards. Burial was in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery north of Bremen. Steve was born November 18, 1952, at Marysville, son of William H. and Lillie (Luedders) Harries. In 1970, he graduated from Marysville High School. On June 18, 1982 he married Delores Christener at Bethlehem Lutheran Church north of Bremen. Steve worked on the family farm and dairy operation until he went to work for the Kansas Department of Transportation in 1990. In 2010, he retired. Steve and Dee moved from the farm into Marysville in 1990. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and then Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. He served the church as a Trustee, Elder, President of Men's Club, and helped with Children's Ministry. He enjoyed hunting and farming. Survivors include his wife, Dee; daughter, Chrystal (Jason) Nichols, Hannibal, MO; son, Colby (Caroline) Harries, Dallas, TX; brothers, Dan Harries, Grand Island, NE, John Harries, Las Vegas, NV, and Tom Harries, Lenexa, KS; four sisters, Cynthia Harries, Independence, MO, Mary Davis, Huntersville, NC, Dorothy Harries, Marysville, and Rebecca Gutierrez, Topeka; and five grandchildren, Ayden, Ashlyn, Claudia, Cameron, and Landon Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William A. Harries. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
