Hildegard P. Knight

Hildegard P. Knight, 89 of Beattie, KS passed away on Mother’s Day, Sunday May 14, 2017, at Lifecare in Seneca, KS. Visitation will be held from noon until 4 p.m., Tuesday May 16, at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville. A Rosary service will be at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church, Beattie. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 17, at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Beattie. Hilde was born March 17, 1928 south of Marysville, KS to Henry and Regina (Kamphaus) Dwerlkotte. Her family moved south of Beattie in the early 40’s. She graduated from Beattie High School in 1946. On June 30, 1951, she married Cleo J. Knight at St. Malachy’s Catholic Church. They were married nearly 56 years at the time of his death in 2007. Hilde worked in Topeka for an insurance company for a few years after graduation from high school, but returned to Beattie where she married and raised her family. She worked at the First National Bank of Beattie and Guittard Estates for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Elizabeth Studer, and Cecelia Oppedal; her three brothers, Paul, Francis and Henry; and one grandson Joel Knight. Survivors include one son, Jim Knight and his wife Gloria of Seneca; two daughters, Ginger Mishkin and her husband Neil of Woodbury, NY and Patty Heim and her husband Mike of Topeka; seven grandchildren, Jesse (Cheryl) Knight, Nikki (Matt) Wells, Natalie (Jordan) Droge, Katie Mishkin, Jacob Mishkin, Wade (Shannon) Heim and Garrett Heim; eight great grandchildren Riley, Colby, Jayden, Taylee, Kendon, Garrison, Parker, Brigham and one great granddaughter on the way.
