Magdalen "Mardie" W. Hohn, 89, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 14 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Anthony Putti officiated. Delores Bruna played the organ while the church choir sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "Pescador de Hombres", "You Are Mine" and "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Dean Koerperich, Steve Nietfeld, Patrick Bussmann, Andrew Bussmann, Eric Bussmann and Bernard Bussmann. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Mardie was born October 26, 1919 at Hempstead, NY, the daughter of Carl and Susan (Reimer) Wolf. She graduated from Hempstead High School in 1937. She then attended Secretarial School at Hofstra University from 1938-1939. Mardie enjoyed her work at the Navy Personnel Records Center where she was a supervisor of replying to past military personnel from WWI to the Korean War. On January 11, 1945 she married Carey Jackson Matthews at Hyattsville, MD. They later divorced. On October 27, 1971 she married Martin M. Hohn at St. Louis, MO. They moved to Marysville in 1972. She was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Mardie enjoyed reading, traveling, painting, sketching and housework. Her daughter, Margery Matthews, survives her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Martin, on February 11, 1997. Memorial contributions may be made to the church and sent in care of the funeral home.
