Debra J. Acosta, 61, Marysville, died Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. She was born at Libertyville, Illinois on April 14, 1956 to Alfred and Sharon (Jermderg) Fellows. Debra was united in marriage to Alex Acosta and they moved to Kansas in 2001. She worked at Kiers Thriftway in Washington from 2001-2002 and briefly co-managed the Pony Express Café, Hanover from 2002-2003. In 2006, she went to work for Kansas State University and retired in 2014. While not a member of any organized church, she enjoyed a deep personal faith and found the divine in everyday life. Debra enjoyed writing poetry and published “God is…”, a book of spiritual poetry. She also had a great love for animals, especially her dogs. Preceding her in death was her step mother, Joan Fellows. Survivors include her husband, Alex; father, Alfred Fellows, Gulfport, MS; mother, Sharon Fellows, Hutto, TX; step-sons, Sean Acosta, James Acosta, Marysville; and brothers, Mark Occlesshaw, Upland, CA, Alfred Fellows, Hutto, TX. A private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are established to, The Children of the Night Organization.
