Delores M. Sedlacek, 91, of Marysville, KS, died May 26, 2017 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Gregory’s Catholic School Gymnasium. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 1, at St. Gregory’s Catholic School Gymnasium. Father Nathan Haverland will officiate. Burial will be in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery. Delores was born February 28, 1926 near Herkimer, KS, to Henry and Clara (Marquardt) Kracht. In 1944, she graduated from Marysville High School. Following high school, she obtained her teachers certificate and taught school at Herkimer for 3 years. On August 9, 1945, she married Alvin Sedlacek. They farmed north of Hanover for 5 years before moving to a farm near Herkimer. After retiring in 1982, they made their home in Marysville. She was a member of RSVP and was the 1995 Volunteer of the Year. She volunteered for RSVP for more than 20 years. Delores was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Daughters of Isabella. Delores enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, liked to read, quilt, and grow a large garden and flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alvin “Bud” Kracht and Wally Kracht; and a sister, Edna Fulton. Survivors include her husband, Alvin; children, Judy Kuckelman, Seneca, David Sedlacek, Marysville, Yvonne (Aubrey) Potter, Kansas City, MO, John (Tami) Sedlacek, Marysville, Sharon (Kendall) Peeks, Marysville, and Lisa (David) Swanson, Hiawatha; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
