Glenn Holle of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 5 at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Anthony Putti officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Amazing Grace”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Song of Farewell” and “How Great Thou Art”. Pallbearers were Greg Price, Larry Price, Jas Hassan, Jim Heston, Thad Russell, Darrel Wilson, Charlie Oehm, Kent Wassenberg and Joe Schmidt. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Glenn was born October 11, 1919 at Marysville, KS, the son of Phillip and Bertha (Paxton) Holle. On October 2, 1944, he married Geraldine O. Wadham at Marysville. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 until 1945 when he was honorably discharged. He was stationed in Alaska for 29 months, then Minneapolis, MN, until the war ended. He worked for the U.P.R.R. for a short period before going to work for South Western Bell where he worked for over 27-years until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed hunting Indian artifacts and metal detecting. he also did gun collecting and gun repair for many years. Survivors include one son, Richard Holle of Concordia, KS; two daughters, Mary Ellen Oehm of Clovis, NM, and Linda Schwarz of Marysville; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Unger of Sabetha, KS, and Fern Lee of Lincoln, NE; and one brothers, Jack Holle of Marysville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Merlin and Allen Holle. Kinsley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
