Ruth Esther Glick Johnson, 96, died Monday, October 12 at Mercy Hospital in Manhattan. A funeral service was held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 15 at the United Methodist Church in Beattie. Burial was in the Beattie Union Cemetery. Ruth was born September 5, 1913 near Summerfield, the daughter of Irvin and Etta Garrison Glick. She attended school at District 90, Summerfield High School and the School of Cosmetology in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was united in marriage to Glenn Harvey Johnson on February 13, 1938 in Cameron, Missouri. He passed away in 1998. They were the parents of twins. Ruth and her husband operated Johnson's Market in Beattie for 23 years. Ruth also worked at the Marysville Hospital for several years. She was a member of the Beattie United Methodist Church and a 62 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; son, Gene Johnson; sister, Ethel Young; and brother, Cecil Glick. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Kay Decker and husband, Verle of Hollenberg, Kansas; a brother Irvin Glick and wife Betty of Kennewick, Washington; 5 grandchildren,11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Kinsley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
