Lawrence Fisher, age 85 of Marysville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at his home. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 6, at the church. Father Anthony Raju Putti officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the choir sang "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee", "Prayer of St. Francis", "Oh Lord I Am Not Worthy", "How Great Thou Art" and "Song of Farewell". Pallbearers were Kirk Bradford, Hank Brucker, Gary West, John Dixon, Gilbert Schmitz and Fred Behrens. Honorary pallbearers were Vic Nordhus and John Nietfeld. Burial was in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. Lawrence was born May 15, 1924 at Blue Rapids, Kansas the son of Antone and Johannah (Budenbender) Fisher. On June 2, 1951, he married Helen Suther at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. She preceded him in death on January 14, 1996. Lawrence moved to Marysville in 1973. He was an equipment operator for the Kansas Department of Transportation until his retirement. He was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church and Legion of Mary. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Jane Fisher; two brothers, Henry and Linus Fisher; two sisters, Amelia Fisher and Genevieve Stueve; and one grandson, Nathan Fisher. Survivors include ten children, Joann Vopata and husband Stan of Paxico, KS, Susan Price and husband Larry of Marysville, John Fisher and wife Dorothy of Havensville, KS, Bob Fisher and wife Connie of Centralia, KS, Dan Fisher and wife Camille of Springfield, MO, Jane Butler and husband Tony of Dodge City, KS, Mike Fisher of Russell, KS, Greg Fisher and wife Kristi of Lincoln, NE, Gary Fisher and wife Audrey of Durham, NC, and Linda Parks and husband Shawn of Emporia, KS; one sister, Josephine Gerstner and husband Melvin of Jefferson City, MO; twenty-nine grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
