Edwin “Ed” G. Dressman, 82, of Frankfort, KS, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 6 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 6 at the church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Pallbearers were Matt Dressman, Nick Dressman, Tyler Dressman, Stewart Dressman, Adam Dressman, Nathan Dressman, Derek Dressman, Calvin Hill, Garrett Dressman and Spencer Dressman. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. Ed was born April 7, 1927, on the family farm near Baileyville, KS, the son of George and Helen (Heiman) Dressman. He attended school in Baileyville after which he helped on the family farm until he was inducted into the U.S. Army Engineers at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He was a veteran of the Korean War. On November 4, 1954, he married Mary Ann Rottinghaus at St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Benedict, KS. After farming near Axtell, Ed and Mary Ann moved to Frankfort in 1973 where they farmed until his retirement in 1989. They continued residing on the family farm until his deteriorating health resulted in his move to the Frankfort Community Care Home in May 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Erwin, Alvin and Clarence; and two sisters, Mary Agnes and Bernarda. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; sons, Myron Dressman and wife Theresa, Ivan Dressman and wife Marilyn, Carl Dressman and wife Linda, Glen Dressman and wife Kristie and Brian Dressman and wife Janna, all of Frankfort, Duane Dressman and wife Jean of Vliets; two daughters, Rose Howe and husband Scott of Riley, and Ellen Hill and husband Kevin of Hiawatha. Ed was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus council # 1383 of Frankfort. He had served as a church council member and on the Marshall County Farm Bureau Board. He enjoyed planting and harvesting crops, raising livestock, caring for his orchard, gardening, fishing and listening to Country music. A memorial fund has been established to benefit Meadowlark Hospice and the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
