Louise Irene Clark Reust, 101, of Frankfort, KS, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 19 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lillis, Kan. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 20 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Burial will be in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Louise was born August 19, 1916, at the family home in northwest Cleveland Township southeast of Frankfort, near Lillis, KS, the second daughter and fourth child of Thomas C. and Minnie (Stevens) Clark. She passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Frankfort Community Care Home, at the age of 101 years. Louise was united in marriage to Woodrow Abraham (Woody) Reust on June 12, 1943, at Lillis, KS. They made their home on the LL Packard farm, where they lived all their married life. Woodrow died December 27, 1985 and is buried at Frankfort Cemetery. Louise and Woody became parents of Mildred Elizabeth Donahue and John Joseph Reust. She attended Irish Creek Valley Grade School and graduated from Lillis High School in 1934. Louise stayed home a year and half after her graduation to care for her Mother, Minnie Clark, who suffered from a heart ailment. Louise earned a teacher’s certificate and taught 10 terms in local rural schools in Marshall County. Louise taught at Snodgrass School, for 3.5 years, Reust School, for two years; Enterprise School for two years; and Irish Creek Valley for two years. She learned to sew from her mother and from 4-H classes. She sewed her own clothes, her children, and many quilts. She made a centennial dress and bonnet for Frankfort’s Centenniel Celebration and wore her mother’s wedding dress at the Marysville Centenniel, which won a prize. Louise served on the election board at Vliets and Vermillion. She was also active on the advisory board for the Area Agency on Aging in Marysville. Louise was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lillis, KS. She served different offices of the Alter Society, taught catechism, and served on the board of the Lillis Alumni Association. Louise enjoyed being Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Lillis, KS. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Frankfort. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Woody; a son, John; and her parents and seven siblings: Mary, Thomas, Mark, John, Elizabeth, Paul, and Frances. She is survived by a daughter, Mildred and Larry Donahue, Frankfort, four grandchildren – Colleen Mendoza, Topeka, KS. Corinne Donahue Starling (Thomas), Omaha, NE. Sean (Amy) Donahue, Wamego, KS. and Cathleen (Matt) Martin, Crystal Lake, IL. 13 great grandchildren; and Mrs. Dorothy Johnston, Blue Rapids. Louise is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
