Eugene "Gene" Duensing, 73, of Marysville, died Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville. The Rev. Donnie Hofman officiated. Dayna Scheele was the organist, and the congregation sang “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Rock of Ages.” Wayne Kruse also sang two solos, “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” Pallbearers were Doug Linkugel, Daryl Linkugel, Chris Stiner, Brian Kolle, David Duensing and Michael Duensing. Burial was in Marysville City Cemetery. Gene Duensing was born on Sept. 19, 1936, at Odell, Neb., the son of Albert and Hulda Knabe Duensing. He graduated from Odell High School in 1954. He married Lenor Linkugel on Jan. 22, 1961. He worked at Lewis Seed and Fertilizer Co. for 34 years, where he milled and performed general duties. Survivors include his wife, Marysville; mother, Wymore; daughters, Janice Aeschliman, Holton, Cindy Duensing, Tulsa, Okla., Tamra Duensing, Topeka, and Lisa Matthews, Mayetta; son, Dennis, Topeka; and brother, Dale, Hastings. He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson, Cody Duensing. Kinsley Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
