Patti Lou Amaya Schlatter, of Marysville, passed from this life on December 6, 2009. A daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, Patti lived and died with grace, courage, and tremendous spirit. She will be missed. Born October 19, 1950, to Lou and Pat Amaya in Duncan, Oklahoma, Patti graduated from Tarkio (Missouri) High School and earned a BS in Biology from Phillips University. She married Marvin Schlatter in 1970, and raised with him a loving and successful family in West Lafayette, Indiana. Patti’s life was a celebration of family, faith, and exploration. She hiked over 1900 miles of the Appalachian Trail, lived in Slovakia for 16 months, and fearlessly traveled extensively throughout the world. Patti was always ready for the next adventure. An enthusiastic and tasteful gardener, photographer, reader, scrapbooker, quilter, genealogist, and decorator, Patti’s most recent project was the reinvigoration of the Pusch-Randell-Anderson House in Marysville. She is survived by her beloved mother, Pat; her devoted husband, Marv; and her children, grandchildren, sisters, brother, and other dear family members and friends, across the country and across the globe. A service was held under the blue skies Patti so loved on Saturday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at http://www.ocrf.org or the Appalachian Trial Conservancy http://www.appalachiantrail.org.
