John H. Kreutzman

John H. Kreutzman, 92, of Marysville, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcare. A rosary service was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 9, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Rosemary Forst played the organ while the church choir sang "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace", "You Are Mine", "Song of Farewell" and "On Eagles Wings". Pallbearers were Bob Thompson, Kenneth A. Kopp, Mark Kopp, Dan Kopp, Paul Kopp and Loren Haverkamp. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Baileyville with Military Honors provided by the Marysville American Legion. John was born February 24, 1917, north of Baileyville, the son of Bernard and Frederieka (Knipper) Kreutzman. He graduated from Baileyville School. In 1941 he was drafted into the U.S. Army 39th Infantry Regiment and served in Algeria-French Morocco, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Ribbon, World War II Victory Ribbon, ATCM, Eame Ribbon with 6 bronze stars, Combat Infantry Badge, ADSM and Purple Heart. He was wounded in Germany and was transferred back to the States. After he recovered from his wounds he worked on the family farm south of Baileyville and then worked in construction for Thompson Lumber for many years until his retirement. John was a 50+ year member of the Marysville American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed driving around. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Albert, Ben, Frank and Joe; three sisters, Sister Mary Verona Kreutzman OSB, Agnes Kopp and Alma Kreutzman. Survivors include two sisters, Cecelia Holle of Marysville, and Margaret Haverkamp of Seneca; and many nieces and nephews. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of John H.
