Jean Kuckelman, 91, of Frankfort, died January 10, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 15, at the church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Moogie Roeder played the organ and Rheta Matson was the cantor. Music included "Beyond the Moon & Stars", "Oh Mother of Jesus" and "We Will Rise Again". The pallbearers were Seth Reust, Sam Reust, Doug Kuckelman, Scott Parthemer, Luke Parthemer and Garrett Parthemer. The honorary pallbearer was Alan Kuckelman. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Frankfort. Jean was born at Seneca, Kansas to Joseph and Mary (Buening) Wempe on October 17, 1918. She attended school at St. Peters and Paul in Seneca. Prior to her marriage, Jean worked for a bank and a lawyer in Seneca. She was the city clerk in Frankfort for many years and a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, traveling and playing Bridge with her Bridge Club. She was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church and belonged to the Altar Society. Jean was united in marriage to Ted J. Kuckelman at the St. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by infant children, Barbara and Regina; brothers, Gerard and infant Morris; sisters, Theo McDonaugh, Loretta McCool, Catherine Edelman and Pat Wempe. She is survived by two daughters, Beth Reust and husband Steve of Plainville, Kansas, and Martha Parthemer and husband Joe of Frankfort; two sons, Richard Kuckelman and wife Kathleen of Naperville, Illinois, and David Kuckelman and wife Sarah of Potomac, Maryland; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home. Padden Funeral Chapel is charge of the arrangements.
