Verena Wetter, 67, of Hanover, KS, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at the Hanover Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 8, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. Father David Metz officiated. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 7, at the church. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hanover. Verena was born September 24, 1942, at Hillsboro, MO, the daughter of John D. and Velma I. (Brown) Frauenfelder Hidy. On December 30, 1961, she married Ray Wetter in Hanover. Verena spent her life as a housewife and mother. She and Ray also spent many years as foster parents. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She enjoyed crafts and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Bill Hidy. Survivors include her husband, Ray of Hanover; four sons, Bill and wife Gail of Manhattan, Steve and wife Lisa of Concordia, Ron and wife Stacy of Hanover, Don and wife Anne of Lincoln, NE; one daughter, Theresa Lindquist and husband Randy of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Victoria, Matt, Chris, Christian, Michaela and Hanna; three step brothers, Larry Hidy of Kearney, NE, Bob Hidy of Loveland, CO, and Richard Inman of McPherson, KS; and two step sisters, Shelly Dowd of Grand Island, NE, and Eva Drabek of Kearney, NE. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
