Clarence G. Toedter, 94, Marysville, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Cambridge Place, Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville. The Rev. Donnie Hofman officiated. The sermon text was from Psalm 121. Carol Wright played the organ while Rodney Meyer sang "How Great Thou Art”. The congregation sang “Nearer My God to Thee”, “Amazing Grace” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”. Pallbearers were Brian Ball, Clint Heideman, Bret Heideman, Randy Bender, Melvin Schuette, and Steve Blumer. Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Duensing, Arlo Lindhorst, John Howard and Norman Lohse. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Clarence was born February 12, 1915 at Home, KS, the son of August and Emma (Schwarz) Toedter. Clarence spoke his confirmation vows on April 1st, 1928 at the Lutheran Church in Home. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1932. He was a hardworking farmer with a generous heart, loving spirit and was a dedicated and active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Clarence was united in marriage to Norma Holle in 1935. She preceded him in death in 1994. On December 12, 1995, he married Leona Klotz Schmidt. They enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and friends, and traveling together. Then went from coast to coast traveling to California, taking a balloon ride in New Mexico, visiting the sites in Washington DC and Alberta, Canada, and even enjoying a Caribbean Cruise with close friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nelda Swingle. Survivors include his wife Leona, Marsysville; nephews, John Swingle of San Diego, CA, and Bruce Swingle of San Francisco, CA; stepson, Terry Schmidt of Reston, VA; step grandaughter, Brenda Heideman of Marysville; step grandson, Brian Ball of Paola, KS; step great-grandaughters, Amber Fencil, Megan Ashcraft, and Brianna Ball; step great-grandson, Bret Heideman; and many others who loved him dearly.
