Ruth Elizabeth Turley

Ruth Turley, 96, of Marysville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her home. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 29, at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The Rev. Dale Lewis officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The pallbearers were Joshua Turley, Ricky Turley, Adam Turley, Mikayen Turley, Alex Turley, Damon Turley and Joey Turley. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Blue Rapids. Ruth was born July 18, 1913, in North Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Lloyd and Bessie (Brew) Baker. She grew up in Blue Rapids, KS, and graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1930. On August 31, 1932, she married Albert C. Turley at the Lutheran Church in Waterville. In the early 40's they moved to Marysville where she was a homemaker. Ruth enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading and taking care of her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert C. Turley on Sept. 18, 1988; two sons, Johnny Turley in 1949, and James Turley in 2007; six brothers, Henry, Lloyd W. Jr., Christopher, William, Howard and Robert J. Baker; and one grandson, John R. Turley. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Padgy Turley; two grandsons, Richard A. Turley and wife Michele, James M. Turley and wife Wendy, all of Hutchinson, KS; granddaughter-in-law, Cindy Veverka of Medina, OH; nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established to the American Heart Association. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
