Bernard A. Runnebaum, 90, of Marysville, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Cambridge Place. A rosary service was held Thursday evening, 7 p.m., at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 18, at the church. Father George Bertels and Father Albert Hauser officiated. The musicians were Cheryl Reinecke, Deb Schmitz and GiGi DiPirro. The played and sang "In Every Age”, “Table of Plenty”, “Parable”, “Old Rugged Cross”, “Daddy’s Hands”, “You Are Mine” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Bernie Runnebaum, Jr., Jerry Runnebaum, John Runnebaum, Jr., Andy Runnebaum, Jeffrey Ballman and Lee Wetter. The honorary pallbearers were David Runnebaum, Brad Runnebaum, Cody Pacha, Nick Wood, Chance Hartner, Chase Hartner, Michael Runnebaum and Vincent Runnebaum. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Beattie. Bernard was born May 23, 1920, at Lillis, KS, son of Bernard and Anna (Schafer) Runnebaum. On January 24, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Lake at St. Malachy's in Beattie. Together they farmed, ran a dairy and dog kennel in the Beattie and Axtell areas until moving into Marysville in 1993. Bernard was instrumental in starting Twin Valley Developmental Services and served on St. Malachy's Church Council and Cemetery Board. He enjoyed his love of horses, traveling, camping, playing cards, spending time with his family and the occasional trip to the casino. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Paul Gerard Runnebaum and Ronnie Lee Runnebaum; two brothers, Ralph and Vincent Runnebaum; and two sisters, Edna Jensen and Evelyn Lackey. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Runnebaum; thirteen children, Bernie Runnebaum and wife Cathie, Olathe, KS, Ralph Runnebaum and wife Judy, Manhattan, KS, Larry Runnebaum and wife Geri, Beattie, Judy Ballman and husband Bob, Marysville, Jim Runnebaum and wife Deb, Axtell, John Runnebaum and wife Amy, Marysville, Eugene Runnebaum and wife Lori, Ogden, KS, Lynn Runnebaum and wife Kim, Marysville, Lou Wassenberg and husband Jim, Marysville, Janet Runnebaum, Alma, KS, Joan Hartner and husband Shane, Axtell, Mark Runnebaum, Marysville, Greg Runnebaum and wife Linda, Boonville, MO; one brother, Galen Runnebaum and wife Rita, Axtell; two sisters, Maleta Marconnett of Texas, Shirley Deters, Ozawkie, KS; twenty-five grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Twin Valley Developmental Services and sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
