Margaret E. Schotte, age 90 of Bremen, passed away Monday evening, June 21, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 25, 2010 at Hermansberg Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen. Rev. Jack Kirk officiated. Kathy Pralle played the organ. Music included “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, “Take My Life and Let It Be”, “What God Ordains Is Always Good” and “The Lord Is My Shepherd”. The pallbearers were Daryl Bott, Bill Schotte, Douglas Bott, Ryan Schotte, Scott Schotte, Kevin Schotte, Jason Schotte and Allen Steinfort. The honorary pallbearers were Dean Herrs, Ned Peters, Bob Bohlken, Marlon Walter, Tim Klipp, Todd Rengstorf, Robert Woyner and Todd Beikmann. Burial was in the Immanuel (State Line) Lutheran Cemetery. Margaret Elizabeth (Frerichs) Schotte (nee Meyer) was born on December 12, 1919 at Niederplanitz, Saxony, Germany, the daughter of Herman Henry Meyer and Theresa Franziska Naeser. She was baptized by the Reverend Martin Wilkomm at the home of her grandfather, Antone Naeser on December 31st, 1919. All being members of the St. Johannes Kirche in Niederplanitz, Germany. Margaret came to America with her parents in 1924 and settled in Herkimer, Kansas. Where she also attended parochial school and was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. H.W.E. Buss in 1933. On April 21, 1940, she married John Luken Frerichs of Odell, Nebraska. He passed away on July 18, 1977. No children were born to this union. On May 28, 1978, she married William H. Schotte. He passed away on October 14, 2001. Through her first marriage she was an active member of the Immanuel (State Line) Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid and Missionary Society. Through her second marriage she was a member of Hermansberg Immanuel Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid of Bremen, Kansas. Her survivors include her beloved family of four children, Lois Bott and husband Delwin of Palmer, Donald Schotte and wife Lucy, Richard Schotte and wife Ruth, all of Bremen, Janice Heuer and husband Kenneth of Hanover; fifteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Gertrude (nee Meyer) Woyner Zaleski of Princeton, Ill; brother, Theodore William Meyer and wife Verna of Pocatello, Idaho; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John Frerichs; second husband, William Schotte; two grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Stan Zaleski.
