Marilyn J. Schramm, 82, of Marysville, died Monday, June 28, 2010 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 3, at the church. The officiants were Fr. Anthony Putti, Fr. Gary Pennings, Fr. Jim Shaughnessy and Fr. Tony Lickteig. Bob Welch played the organ while the church choir sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Prayer of St. Francis”, “On Eagles Wings”, “You Are Mine” and “Let There Be Peace On Earth”. The pallbearers were Mike Gee, Kyle Ray, Gary Phillips, Bob Nork, Kirk Bradford, Jim Chaulk, Dr. John Haefele and Raoul Delmare. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Marilyn was born July 16, 1927, at Home, KS, the daughter of Walter LeRoy "Roy" and Nellie Catherine (Dreyer) Lewis. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1945. On August 1, 1946 she married L.J. "Jim" Schramm at St. Gregory's Parish House. Marilyn served on the Pony Express Board during the expansion of the museum. She was an avid reader and took special joy in cross-stitching a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed the family's annual Christmas Eve gathering and took great joy in watching her grandchildren grow to adulthood. Marilyn was a kind and loving wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed. Her parents and one sister, Maxine Delmare, preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, L.J. "Jim" Schramm; one daughter, Julie Hackenmiller and husband Ron, Fond du Lac, WI; one son, Jim Schramm and wife Pat, Marysville; four grandchildren, Nolan Schramm, Kara Ray, Manhattan, KS, Amy and Jennifer Hackenmiller, both of Madison, WI; two great-granchildren, Elijah and Keith; and one nephew, Raoul Delmare, Marysville. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
