Aline Wilda Olson Toedter, 91, of Marysville, died Wednesday, July 15, 2010 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 19, at Kinsley Mortuary. The Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated. Gail Gilkerson played the organ while Wayne Kruse sang “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Doug Wiley, John Coultis, Dean Richard, Delmar Schotte, Kenneth Schwarz and Lanny Carpenter. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Aline was born September 22, 1918, to Reuben A. and Myrtle Crabb Olson. The Olsons resided in the Deer Creek community north of Marysville. Aline attended the Deer Creek School until moving into Marysville in 1928. Her father was elected County Treasurer and assumed office in late 1927. Aline attended Marysville schools, graduating from Marysville High School in 1936. She then attended Platte Business School in Manhattan, later returning to Marysville where she was employed at the AAA, Citizens State Bank and Federal Land Bank. Aline and Merlin Toedter were married on December 29, 1946, at the First Christian Church in Marysville, their home church. They resided in Marysville until Merlin accepted employment with the U.S. Postal Railway Mail Service in Kansas City. They lived in the Kansas City area for 15 years prior to Merlins transfer to Topeka Mail Service, where they lived for 13 years. While in Topeka, Aline was employed at First National Bank of Topeka. Both she and Merlin retired from their respective employment on the same date, August 30, 1980. They then returned to Marysville where they built their third new home. She and Merlin worked together doing various volunteer work and serving in church, clubs, and other local and state activities. Aline was a charter member of the Kansas Silver Haired Legislature in 1982 and served for 10 years on the Senior Advisory Committee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Topeka. Aline became a member at an early age of the Marysville Christian Church where she was active in music, and also taught Sunday School classes. They were parents of one daughter, Sharon Lea, who died in infancy. Aline was also preceded in death by her husband, Merlin, of 56 years; her parents, Reuben and Myrtle Olson and a six-year old brother, Donald. Survivors include cousins, very dear friends and her extended family, Dennis Olson and Ron Olson of Portland OR and Marsha Olson Harmsen and Sharon Olson Yanasak of Puyallup WA. Memorial will go to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
