Carl Lee Price, 89, of Marysville, died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at his home. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, at the church. Father Anthony Putti officiated. Servers were Dalton and Dylan Keating and great-granddaughters, Aubrie and Emma Peschel. The pallbearers were grandsons, Robert Peschel, Matthew Peschel, Michael Peschel, Spencer Price, Skyler Price, Eric Berger and Brian Price; and great-grandson, Reid Walker. The honorary pallbearers were granddaughters, Lisa Walker, Susan Deraney, Jessica Zutterman, Becky Berger, Jennifer Ray, Amy Murphy, Crystal Koeneke, Ashley Mohr and Sarah Legleiter. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites provided by American Legion Post #163 and Taps played by his grandson, Eric Berger. Lee was born August 10, 1920, at Argonia, KS, son of Earl Reuben and Nancy Ellen (Kearns) Price. He attended school at Elbing, KS, until the 3rd grade when his family moved to Marysville. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1939. In 1941, he entered the U.S. Army and served in the European Theatre and Pacific Theatre. In 1946 he was honorably discharged. On October 7, 1946, Lee was united in marriage to Catherine Cecila Benda at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover. To this union six children were born. Lee owned and operated Price Auto Supply in Marysville from 1958 until 1983 when he sold the business to his son, Greg. In retirement, Lee and Catherine enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor home throughout the United States where they made many friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his entire family at family reunions, events and get-togethers. Lee always loved to play cards and later in life enjoyed painting pictures. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. His parents; one son, David Lee Price; one brother, Joe Price; one sister, Doris Price Rohmeyer; and one grandson, Kurtis Berger, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Catherine of the home; five children, Nancy Peschel and husband, Joe, Marysville, James Price and wife, Drusilla, Home, KS, Larry Price and wife, Sue, Marysville, Greg Price and wife, Deb, Marysville, Janet Berger and husband, Ivan, Waterville; half brother, E.R. Price and wife, Janet, Arkansas City, KS; half sister, Helen Price, WaKeeney, KS; sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
