Joseph F. Luckeroth, 87, of Marysville, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Cambridge Place. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 10, at the church with Father Anthony Putti officiated. Wayne Kruse sang, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" "Amazing Grace" "I Have Loved You" and "On Eagles Wings" accompanied by Delores Bruna on the organ. Mass songs by St. Gregory's Choir. Pallbearers were Tom Luckeroth, Dean Luckeroth, Keith Luckeroth, Charles Griswold, Butch Newmann, and Forrest Maendele. Burial with Military Honors was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Joseph was born June 16, 1923 at Seneca, Kansas, son of Joseph C. Luckeroth and Lydia Strathman. In 1941 he graduated from Saints Peter and Paul Catholic High School in Seneca. Joe was a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On September 14, 1945, he married Verla D. Smith at Seneca. They later divorced. On November 2, 1982, he married Laurene Petr in Washington, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2006. Joseph worked at Fairbury Auto Supply and Baker's Motors as a partsman. He then was owner and operator of the Dairy Bar and Luckeroth Liquor Store in Marysville. He was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and American Legion. He enjoyed traveling tours on S.S. Tour Bus. Also enjoyed sports, following the K.C. Royals, K.C. Chiefs, Kansas State, KU and Marysville High School sports. Survivors include his children, Bill Luckeroth of Puerto Rico, Jan Knutson of Reno, NV, Mike Luckeroth of Marysville, Joe A. Luckeroth of Topeka, KS, and Suzette Jacobs of Manhattan, NY; brother, Norman Luckeroth of Lawrence, KS; sisters, Lydia Jane Kalich of Wenatchee, WA, Mary Lou Stoering and Alice McCarthy, both of Portland, OR; and dear companion, Donna Smith of Marysville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His parents; wife, Laurene; daughter, Patricia A. Luckeroth; and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Luckeroth, preceded him in death. Memorials can be made to St. Gregory's School or Building Fund.
