Margaret Ann Woodyard, 76, of Marysville and formerly of Blue Rapids, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center in Wichita. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 27, at the Swede Creek United Methodist Church south of Waterville. The Rev. Deb Hanes-Nelson officiated. Marjorie Anderson played the organ while Leonard Woodyard sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “Beyond the Sunset”. The pallbearers were V.J. Woodyard, Steve Fritz, Greg Woodyard, Brandon Bugler, Daryl Woodyard and Melvin Woodyard. The honorary pallbearers were William Woodyard and Ethan Woodyard. Burial was in the Bellegarde-Cleburne Cemetery south of Blue Rapids. Margaret was born on August 11, 1934 at Garrison, KS, the daughter of Paul and Gladys White Burkland. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1954. On September 4, 1953, she married Elmer Woodyard at Wamego, KS. She was a homemaker and they farmed south of Blue Rapids for many years. Elmer passed away on March 30, 1986. Margaret was a member of EHU, VFW Auxillary, and the Sunshine Club. She has been a resident of Marysville since 1998. Survivors include five sons, Dale Woodyard and wife Heather of Tonganoxie, KS, Gail Woodyard and wife Carrie of Marysville, Wayne Woodyard and wife Nancy of Chanute, KS, Vinton Woodyard and wife Elizabeth of Susanville, CA, Leonard Woodyard and wife Julia of McAlester, OK; one daughter, Vonda Bugler and husband John of St. Peters, MO; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her parents; husband, Elmer; and sister, Betty Fritz, preceded her in death. Memorials may be made to the Swede Creek United Methodist Church and sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
