Charles Dean Richardson, 81, of Home, KS, died Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home. A celebration of his life was held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, at the Axtell Mission Covenant Church. The Rev. Herb Schrader officiated. Lisa Broxterman played the organ while Pastor Herb Schrader and Terry Nanninga sang "The Lord is My Shepherd". The congregation ssng “Near to the Heart of God”. The pallbearers were nephews, Curtis Richardson, Dennis Richardson, Dale Richardson, David Richardson, Don Richardson and Kyle Richardson. The honorary pallbearers were Quentin McMillan, Ron Wolfgang, Arlo Plegge, Jim Heidebrecht and Charles Moeller. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Dean was born October 19, 1928 on the family farm south of Home, KS. He was the eldest son of Charles F. and Anna K. (Houdek) Richardson. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1946. On March 12, 1949 he married Mary Lofdahl at Hiawatha, KS. She survives. Dean farmed for a few years before running the telephone office in Home for three years. Dean and Mary then moved to Marysville where he was in TV repair and sales. In December 1968, Dean transferred to Des Moines, Iowa, with Montgomery Ward. He worked in the appliance business until retiring in 1993. In 1995, Dean and Mary moved back to the family farm south of Home where he grew up and farmed with his brother, Lloyd. Dean was an avid bowler, farmer and gardener. He was a member of the Izaak Walton League of America. His parents; two brothers, Warren and Milton; and one granddaughter, Julie Jorgenson, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Mary Jean; three daughters, Catherine Jorgensen, Topeka, Cheryl Rousseau, Des Moines, IA, Cari Ebert (Jim), Greenwood, MO; one brother, Lloyd (Delma) Richardson, Marysville, KS; sister-in-laws, Evelyn Richardson, Marysville, and Carla Richardson, Topeka; seven grandchildren, Jill (Chris) Henry, Jerrick Jorgensen, Anna Cole, Rick (Katie) Rousseau, Whitney, Ally and Aaron Ebert; three great-grandchildren, Katelin Henry, Connor Henry and Ava Cole; many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
