Zetta F. Harberts, 79, of Beattie, KS, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at her home. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 19, at the United Methodist Church in Beattie. The Rev. Camille Sutton officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Pat Olson sang “Hymn of Promise”. The congregation sang “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Larry Polson, Larry Roesch, Dick Tegethoff, Matt Harberts, Roger Middleton and Jim DeVoogd. The honorary pallbearers were Patrick O’Neil, Ryan Locke, Howard Frazier, Colin Locke, Darrel Boyd, George Feldhausen and Michael O’Neil. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Zetta was born December 19, 1930 at Phillipsburg, KS, daughter of Eugene Henry and Vina Electa (Claar) Gillespie. She grew up at Fairbury, NE, and graduated from Fairbury High School. On October 22, 1960, she married Ralph "Red" Harberts at Marysville. They lived in Marysville while Red was employed with the railroad. In 1980 they moved to Kansas City. When Red retired in 1983 they moved to Beattie. Zetta was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Third Monday Group. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking, embroidery, needlework and following her grandchildren in their activities. Her parents; husband, Red; stepfather, Henry Oberhelman; two brothers, Clyde Romberger and Kenneth Gillespie; and infant grandson, Travis Locke, preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Lynette Locke, Pam O'Neil and husband Doug, all of Beattie; one son, Kevin Mathias and wife Marilyn, Lynn Haven, FL; one brother, Stanley Oberhelman and wife Nola, Chapman, NE; one sister, Nelda Graham and husband Lowell, Crete, NE; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
