Dorothy F. Ensley, 91, of Frankfort, Kan., died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 30, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. The Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Janet Plegge played the organ while Steve Gleason sang “How Great Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace” and "The Lords Prayer.” The pallbearers were David Hartsook, Keith Hartsook, Mark John Hartsook, Micheal Bonewitz, Corey Tryon, Terre Carter and Galen O'Baner. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Dorothy was born at Irving, Kan., on June 6, 1919 to Earl and Emma (Boyd) Miller. She attended Antioch Grade School and Frankfort High School. In 1935 she married John Ensley. She worked as a Lab Tech at the hospital for Dr's. Thomas and Hughes. She later worked at T&C Converters until August 2008. She liked to piece quilts, knit and paint. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to both her family and extended family. Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church and a 50+ year member of the Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, on November 6, 1978; six siblings, Evadna, Boyd, Ray, Loren, Forrest and infant sister Beryl Faye; and grandson, Todd Clawson. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Clawson (Dean), Frankfort, Jane Burkhead (Norman), Marysville; one sister, Wilma Kohler, Hawthorne, CA; four grandchildren, David Hartsook (Chris), Waterville, Keith Hartsook (Lisa), Herkimer, Micheal Bonewitz, Kansas City, and Deb Clawson, Frankfort; extended family, John Merrill (Barbara), Carbondale, KS, Lyle Strifler (Patsy), Lucas, TX, and their families; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
