Marilyn Ann "Suzi" Horigan, 77, Frankfort, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. A prayer service was at 7 p.m. Monday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Annunciation Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. Joe Lauer was reader. Jeannie Gerstner played the organ, and Lynn Bramhall was vocalist. Songs included “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” “Lord’s Prayer,” “I Believe” and “Ave Maria.” Servers were Jordan Kennedy, Trent Kennedy and Jack Mitchell. Burial was at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Frankfort. Pallbearers were Neil Beeman, Scott Grant, Bob Mitchell, Cole Horigan, Kevin Horigan, Clint Mitchell, Tanner McClure and Chet Fincham. Marilyn Ann Horigan was born Sept. 28, 1933, at the Cornelia Carver home at Frankfort, the daughter of Hiram Lyle and Helen Opal Arnold Jones. She attended Barrett School District No. 1 for eight years and then Frankfort High School, graduating in May 1951. She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Kansas City, Mo., from July 1951 through August 1952, then she returned to Frankfort to be married. She married Daniel D. Horigan on Sept. 13, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2002. She worked for First National Bank at Frankfort from 1955 until 1961. In part of 1961 and part of 1962 she worked for the construction company that was building the dike around Frankfort. In September 1962 she went to work for the law firm of Galloway, Weigers & Sprouse, which eventually became Galloway, Weigers & Brinegar P.A., where she remained until her passing. She and her husband hosted 11 astronauts in 1967 for a quail and pheasant hunting weekend. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins were among the group. The couple had a real estate and auction business in Frankfort, Horigan D&M Real Estate. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and pinochle and traveling. She was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, where she played the organ for more than 30 years, belonged to the Altar Society and served as a member of the church council for several years. She was member of Beta Epsilon Chapter of ESA when it was chartered. She also was an active member of PEO Chapter EJ and the Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Jane Beeman of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Daniel Patrick Horigan of Frankfort and Michael J. Horigan of Manhattan; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sister, Linda Gregory of Frankfort; and brothers, Lew Jones of Edgewood, Wash., and Roger Jones of Frankfort. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Memorials may be made to the University of Kansas Medical Center and can be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
