Robert S. Bruna, 73, of Hanover, Kansas, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010 at St. John's Catholic Church in Hanover. A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. following the rosary. Father David Metz officiated. Janet Fritschi played the organ while the church choir sang "Song of Farewell", "Peace Is Flowing Like a River", "On Eagles Wings", "Here I Am Lord" and "Oh Lord I Am Not Worthy". The pallbearers were Chris Bruna, Nicholas Bruna, Lance Bruna, Jeff Schroller, Mike Meyer and Rick Richards. Burial was in the church cemetery. Robert was born March 29, 1937 at Marysville, KS, son of Sylvester and Lillian Mae (Koehler) Bruna. He grew up near Bremen and from an early age he helped his father on the farm. Robert was a lifelong farmer and later worked at the Pony Express Truck Stop near Hanover. On April 21, 1959, he married Darlene Roberts at St. John's Catholic Church, Hanover. Robert enjoyed hunting and riding around. He also enjoyed taking trips to Walmart and the Pony where he loved to socialize. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Darlene on March 13, 1999. Survivors include his daughter, Linda Mathis, Washington, KS; three brothers, Stanley Bruna (Barbara), Hanover, Roy Bruna (Linda), Wamego, KS, and Kenny Bruna (Barbara), Barnes, KS; two grandchildren, Sandra Brundidge and Crystal Mathis; and one great-grandson, Jahlele Brundidge. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
