Boyd "Dean" Clawson, 70, of Frankfort, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 22, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. The Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while Sara Naaf sang “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “When I Reach the Place I’m Going”. Steve Gleason played the guitar and sang “Amazing Grace” and “Old Rugged Cross”. The pallbearers were Jon Naaf, Joel Naaf, Jeffrey Naaf, Atticus Gude, Dyllon Holle, Jason Behrens, Blake Behrens and Cameron Gude. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery with military honors provided by the Frankfort American Legion. Dean was born January 27, 1940 at Marysville, Kansas, the son of Boyd Maxwell and Neva Alice (Thompson) Clawson. He attended school at Summerfield, Kansas until the family moved to Frankfort in 1955. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1958. After graduating he went to work with his parents in the printing business, Clawson Printing, which operated the Frankfort Index, Summerfield Sun and Blue Rapids Times. On December 11, 1960 he married Jean Ensley at the United Methodist Church in Oketo, KS. After marriage Dean enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1981 Dean and Jean started T&C Converters in Frankfort. They also operated other area businesses including a restaurant, a dime store and photography studio. Dean was always a caring and generous person and enjoyed helping others. He also enjoyed photography, riding motorcycles, collecting "Things", his pet dog and cats, traveling, and going to flea markets and pawn shops. He was a member of the American Legion, Patriot Guard, Masonic Lodge, Rotary and past member of the Frankfort Community Care Home Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd; and sister, Sue Clawson. Survivors include his wife, Jean; one daughter, Debra Clawson and companion, Ruby Gude, Frankfort; two sisters, Ann Behrens (Bill), Frankfort, and Ruth Naaf (Allen), Summerfield, KS; one sister-in-law, Jane Burkhead (Norman), Marysville; six grandchildren, Dyllon Holle, Alex Hoffman, Atticus Gude, Vivien Gude, Cameron Gude and Eddy Gude; one great-grandchild, Octavian Gude; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
