Alice L. Jueneman

Alice Louise Jueneman, 82, Hanover, KS, died Thursday, April 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Visitation was held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Hanover Mortuary in Hanover.

A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, at St. John's Catholic School Gym in Hanover.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, at St. John's Catholic School Gym.  Father David Metz and Deacon Wayne Talbot officiated.  Janet Fritschi played the organ, and the choir sang "Amazing Grace", accompanied by Alice's grandchildren, "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "On Eagle's Wings", "Tend the Ground", "Ave Maria", and "We Belong to You."

The pallbearers were Alice's grandsons: Ethan Zabokrtsky, Evan Zabokrtsky, Austin Jueneman, Brandon Jueneman, Preston Jueneman, Colin Jueneman, Kolton Jueneman, Caleb Jueneman, Max Jueneman, Landon Jueneman, Parker Jueneman, Aaron Jueneman, and Wyat Jueneman.

Burial followed in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.

Alice was born on April 23, 1942, to Tony and Emma (Koehler) Bruna in Hanover. She attended country school at Ballard Falls near her home until the 8th grade, and in 1959, she graduated from Hanover High School.

On November 7, 1964, Alice was united in marriage to Orval Jueneman at St. John’s Catholic Church, and this union was blessed with eight children: Lisa, Ron, Greg, Brian, Tim, Mark, Gary and Roger.

Alice worked as a department secretary at the Washington County Courthouse until family commitments became her priority. At this time, she focused on raising her children and handling the bookkeeping for the family’s farm and dozer service business. Following Orval’s passing in 2002, she took on an increased role within the farming and business operation until her health forced her to slow down.

Alice and Orval loved dancing, dinner outings, visiting relatives, hosting card parties, taking Sunday drives, visiting the farms, and attending car shows. She and Orval enjoyed traveling and took numerous cross-country trips. Alice was an active member of several organizations, including the Red Hat Society, the Ballard Falls Needle Club, St. John’s Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She also served on the St. John’s cemetery board and as secretary of the Kloppenberg Center Board. Together, Alice and Orval generously contributed their time and resources to St. Johns Catholic Church and School and the surrounding community.

Family was at the heart of everything for Alice, and many Sundays were spent gathered together at the home or visiting relatives, it meant a great deal to Alice to have Holiday gatherings together. She enjoyed gardening and had a deep love for flowers, she enjoyed watching westerns, reading, and savoring a good cup of coffee. As Alice got older, she found enjoyment in visiting with her family, or just catching up over the phone and sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Alice passed on her strong work ethic to her children. Above all, she was known for her enduring strength, grit, kindness, and generosity, along with her sweet tooth she was also known to be a little stubborn on many occasions.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Orval, in 2002; parents, Tony and Emma Bruna; brothers, Tom Bruna and Bill Bruna; sister-in-law, Glenda Bruna; brother-in-law, Merten Bevitt; and many beloved aunts, uncles, brothers & sisters in-law.

Survivors include 8 children, 26 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren: Lisa (John) Zabokrtsky and family, Hanover; Ethan (Rachael) Zabokrtsky, Owen, and Ray; Kendra (Chris) Zabokrtsky, and Brynnlee; Evan Zabokrtsky; Ron (Denae) Jueneman and family, Hanover; Austin (Kelsey) Jueneman, Lydia, and Kolby; Brandon Jueneman, Ella, and Leyna; Preston (Shelbi) Jueneman, and Beckett; Katelyn (Leroy) Watson; Colin Jueneman; Kate Dimler; and Keagan Dimler; Greg (Kathy) Jueneman and family, Hanover, and Max; Brian (Christina) Jueneman and family, Waverly, NE, Kolton, Caleb, and Kyla; Tim (Michele) Jueneman and family, Hanover, Kyana, and Keira; Mark (Jessica) Jueneman and family, Manhattan, Landon, and Parker; Gary (Karody) Jueneman and family, Round Rock, TX, Aaron, and Emberly; Roger (Liane) Jueneman and family, Hanover; Jasmine Butler-Jueneman, Jaden Butler-Jueneman, Laicee, Taelor, Wyat, and Dakota; sister, Mary Bevitt, Shawnee, KS; brothers, Harold Bruna and Jim (Deb) Bruna, Hanover; great-aunt, Maxine Koehler, Hanover; and many beloved nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
