Ann Barrett 96, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A simple Celebration of Life will be held at the Cigna Center in Frankfort, on Saturday, December 10 at 12:00 pm, followed by a luncheon. Ann was born in Frankfort, Kansas, on February 12, 1926, to Ralph Patrick and Georgia (Wendling) Reust in Frankfort. Ann and her brother Paul grew up in the Frankfort neighborhoods, attended Frankfort Schools, and both married locally. Except for a short stint in San Antonio with the Air Force, Ann spent her entire ninety six years in Frankfort. In 1945, Ann married the love of her life, Albert C. (Bert) Barrett, also of Frankfort. Ann and Bert were loving, generous parents to their two children, Mark and Mary. Bert was a local mail carrier and Ann was a devoted housewife. As a team they took great care of all the patrons on the mail route. Ann was always making cookies, divinity, fudge and homemade bread for Bert to deliver to the mail boxes. Those who knew Ann well had the opportunity to taste her homemade bread. For sixty plus years she made bread almost every day. She wouldn’t let you walk out the door without a loaf under your arm. In midlife, Ann took up the art of crocheting with some assistance from her good friend Gret Winters. Ann loved to crochet baby blankets, sweaters, bonnets and booties. Her children and grandchildren have many treasured heirlooms for lasting memories. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bert; her parents Pat and Georgie Reust; and her brother, Paul; and infant son, Timothy. She is survived by her son, Mark Barrett (Marsha), Lenexa, her daughter, Mary Gleason (Bryan), Carbondale, seven grandchildren, Wendy (Larry ) England, Rustin Barrett, Angie Gleason, Carrie (Stony) Eagle, Michael (April) Gleason, Audrey Gleason, Erika (Brad) Quilling, and ten great grandchildren In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Padden Funeral Home, 101 East 3rd, Frankfort, KS 66427, to be designated later to the Frankfort Community Care Home.
