Arlene “Bunny” Libby Potter, 94, of Marysville, Kan., died Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. A private family service and burial will take place at a later date. Bunny was born to Wallace and Gladys (Rakestraw) Libby on May 5, 1925 in Marysville. She attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated Marysville High School in 1943. Her freshman year in high school she started seeing Robert Potter. They were wed on September 16, 1944, while he was on leave from the Navy and they shared 71 wonderful years together before he passed in 2016. Bunny always worked, she was secretary for the Armour Creamery in Marysville, while in high school, as well as when she was waiting for Bob, while he finished the service. They went to Kansas City where he attended the School of Watchmaking. While in Kansas City, she was the secretary for the Standard Oil Company, located on the Plaza. They then went to Denver, CO, where Bob taught watchmaking and engraving. It was there they had their son, Robert. They returned to Marysville, to raise their family, which would include daughter Konnie, and started Potters Jewelry. Together they built and ran the business, until Bob’s retirement. Bunny kept the books for Bob and also worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of Schools, until she started at the United States Department of Agriculture, where she stayed for 30 years. Bunny always called the men “her farmers” and really enjoyed working there. She was a member of the First Christian Church and served it well. She and Bob were members of card groups and she played lady’s bridge. Bunny was also a member of Marysville Country Club, where she enjoyed playing golf. She had a 200 pin from her bowling team. Bob and Bunny loved to travel and be with friends and family. Family always came first with her. No one had a bigger, softer or loving heart.
