Barbara J. Forst, age 75, of Frankfort, KS, passed away on December 29, 2024, at Community Hospital Onaga.

Visitation was held from Noon to 4 p.m., Friday, January 10, 2025, at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort.  

A rosary was held at 7 p.m., Friday, January 10, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Blaine, KS.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 11, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church.  Father Anthony Chendumalli and Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated.  The musician was Marilyn Dressman.  Music included "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say", "Softly and Tenderly (Jesus is Calling)", "On Eagle's Wings", "May the Angels Guide You" and "City of God".

The honorary pallbearers were Steve Murray, Jim McCormick, Jay Ewing, John Deters, Kevin Turnbull and Steve O’Shea.

Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  

Barbara was born on September 18, 1949, to Eldon and Virginia (Anderson) Ewing in Marysville, KS. She attended school in Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1967.

On June 22, 1968, Barbara was united in marriage to Theodore D. Forst at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Blaine, KS. To this union, they were blessed with a son, Paul.

Barbara’s lifelong journey was marked by her dedication to both family and career. She was a diligent worker who held various jobs throughout her life, with her longest tenure being at Farm Bureau in Manhattan, KS, where she ultimately retired.

Barbara enjoyed a rich and fulfilling life, characterized by her diverse hobbies and interests. She had a love for the outdoors, relishing the thrill of hunting in her younger years, and finding joy in fishing and camping. The moments spent at the lake brought her peace and happiness. In addition, she was passionate about riding horses and honing her skills in quilting, activities that allowed her to express her creativity and connect with nature. Barbara also chaperoned Miss Kansas in 1969.

Preceding her in death is her parents; brothers, John Ewing and Ron Ewing; brother-in-law, Larry Haskin; and sister-in-law, Marsha Ewing.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Ted, Frankfort; son, Paul (Leah) Forst, Frankfort; sister, Kay Haskin, Frankfort; brother, David Ewing, Topeka, KS; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and beloved pets, Josee and Gus.
